The Death of a Minister
A foreign minister, actually. Not a church minister.
The Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh was tragically murdered in 2003, in a shocking attack in a shopping mall. The murderer was relatively quickly found, and subsequent analysis has led to some disturbing media attention, among those the animation of how the murder happened. Complete with skeletons movimg aroumd and the whole “Bones” feel on it.
Expressen.se also has a piece on this here thing…
The Swedish security police was responsible for the minister’s safety, but they aren’t commenting on the former finance minister Pär Nuder’s accusations in their direction, saying the murder could have been avoided had the police heeded the warnings that there was an existing and specific threat against Lindh.
“‘Cause it’s only in hindsight / that we will know / what was right to do” goes a song…and that is true.
Plan for it, and you might avoid it – overlook it and it might happen. But the truth is, you can only plan for so much. Bad things can and will still happen; the whole point of personal security planning and awareness is not to believe that all things can be avoided – it’s to make sure that the odds of it happening to YOU, or the ones YOU love are as low as possible.
Stop looking for scapegoats, and do it better the next time around.
This is blown up!!!
He killed a random woman, if it had not been Anna Lind he would have killed someone else. Difference is that AnnaLindh was known and someone actually now has managed to make money of her death. That is the difference. Known or unknown.
Well, blown up or not, she was a minister. And that has a tendency to get more attention than just your average Joe on the street.
You’re also right, though – if it hadn’t been her, it would likely have been someone else.
