SHH! No laughing! Humorless Security Inc.
“I think it reinforces a stereotype the security industry has been working on dispelling for years,” said Bob Zalud, editor of Security magazine. “These good folks are trained rather well, in terms of hours accumulated. It would seem, in some ways, we’re still fighting a perception that they are less than fully trained or just adequate at their jobs.”
This is apparently the security industry’s reaction to the new Kevin James movie “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”. The movie has been a raging success, and with a current income of around $100 million USD to a production cost of $26 million, it’s apparently well liked with audiences.
The issue seems to be more one of the industry taking itself too seriously than that of the everyman. Anyone that feels Paul Blart is a good representation of a real security guard should of course be corrected – anyone with a quarter brain knows that this is not a representation of an actual guard.
Bob Zalud should take a chill pill, in our opinion.
Movie’s site is here. (Site’s pretty funny too. )
