Of Mice and (Black) Men

All right, I wasn’t going to give this any attention, but the AP is still crawling all over this like the hard-to-interpret critters they are.

Henry Louis Gates jr. was arrested for tumultous behavior the other day, after a neighbor called the fuzz when she thought someone was breaking into the house next door. Anyone should be glad to have neighbors these days that actually care, but lil’ ol’ Henry wasn’t too happy. Police have said that when they arrived, Henry was there, all jazzed up and ready to go head to head with the cops, screaming his face off with insults and playing the racism card, claiming he would never have been detained or arrested had he not been a black man.

If you take a look at the AP picture above, you can see for yourself what I mean – the guy’s obviously either hysterical or not quite bolted together right. Here’s another nice little picture of the man:

Now, I don’t mind police taking action against people that just don’t know how to behave themselves. If you’ve got so much trouble opening your front door that a neighbor gets suspicious, you need to either get new glasses or a new front door. If you’re still out there fiddling when the cops get there, try and be nice, huh? That happy crappy doesn’t look good no matter what color you’re sporting, so “FFS”, be cool about it when the cops come around. If it really was a burglar, wouldn’t you be glad that they were there?

Anyway. Gates have been playing the race card for a few days now, and it has actually worked. He’s off the charges, and gets to gloat about both that and all that nice attention he’s getting from the media. He shouldn’t, though. Whenever someone plays the race card these days, they’re no better than segregationists themselves – hell, they’re no better than the KKK. Accusing someone of racism has become so normal to those that have a slightly darker skin color than white that it is not only bordering on racism of their own anymore, it’s blatantly the case.

Look, if you’re “black” or arab or asian or whatever, and you go accusing someone of racism, you better be damned sure you’re right about it, ’cause if you’re not, buddy, then YOU’re the racist. Oh…balck people can’t be racist, you say? What?? Get a friggin education, a**hole. These days, there are more – a lot more – black racists than white ones, and that’s a fact. Someone needs to calm down and get their heads on straight (in this case, Gates), because being racis is NOT ok.
