Best Stocking Stuffers Ever, or Toys’R’Us for Security
If you’re anything like us, you’re not even remotely done with the Christmas shopping. Hell, we’ve decided not to even start until we know if there’s still a world to wake up to tomorrow. Only time will tell, we suppose. If nothing else, this end-of-the-world thing might save our wallets from a cataclysmic event. Seems unlikely, though.
So, blatantly disregarding the possible end of the world as we know it, here’s a few of our favorite things that we would love to see in our stockings this year – or under the tree for that matter. Wrapped, unwrapped… we don’t really care. We just want.
Matterhorn 10″ Insulated Field Boots
All right, so they’re a little big for the stocking, but they’ll fit snugly under the tree. We’ve pretty much fallen in love with the Corcoran 10″ boots we got a little while back, and these are basically the same. They’re made by the same company, in the USA, of top notch materials. Also, they’re insulated – we like that in the middle of winter.
If you’re working (or living, or both) in cold climes, these boots will make you very happy – or whoever you buy them for. We practically guarantee it. Take a look at our review of the Corcoran 10″ though, because you’ll want to know about the little sizing issue we had with those…
Bottom line? We’re in love with these now. We want to be inside them.
ColdGear Tactical Hood / Balaclava / Ninjaclava
This thingis awesome. And cheap. If you haven’t got a balaclava, or like this, a hinged balaclava that we like to call a “ninjaclava”, then you’ve got to see this one. We admit it – we haven’t tried this one, since we got this one instead, but we know ColdGear, and they’re never wrong.
The main thing about this is that it will keep you dry – let’s be honest here; if it’s not wool, it won’t keep you warm, but being dry is a big step in the right direction.
If you haven’t got sub zero temperatures on a regular basis, but need something to keep your face away from the wind-chill (or just… you know… hidden-while-comfortable) then this is just the thing.
Peel the top back, use it as a neck gaiter, whatever. Use it with goggles, or a wool cap, or on its own. Tell you what… we’re getting quite a few of these, that’s for sure.
Hatch SP100 Defender II – steel shot weighted leather gloves
The title kind of says it all. If you (like we do, on occasion) need a hard hitting pair of gloves, there’s just no topping this. To be hones, we go through pairs of gloves like they were candy canes on Christmas eve. That’s just the way it is. We’ve never seen anything more useful than these, though. Or anything that will make your hands feel invincible more than a pair of black leather tactical gloves, weighted with steel shot!
A little tip if you decide to go for these; they’re small. If you’re a large M for other gloves, or an L, then get the XL. You’ll be glad you did.
Light enough to make sure you’re not slow, with the best dexterity we’ve seen in weighted gloves – even typing is fine with these on. Oh, and if you do need to throw a punch, they’re heavy enough to make sure you probably don’t need to throw another one. If you’ve got a friend or a spouse or whatnot who work in security or LE, then these are going to get you major brownie points. Guaranteed.
SureFire E2D LED Defender – 200 Lumen
We don’t want this. Really, we dont. Why? Because we bought these A LONG TIME AGO! And use them every day. And so should you. On duty, off duty – it doesn’t matter. You can use it on 5 lumens as a reading light/map light/whatever, or flood a room with 200 lumens if that’s what you want to do.
Tight beam with just enough light around the edges to make sure you can still get the whole picture, rugged as only a few others we’ve seen in our time and enough battery time to put a MagLite to shame, this is not something you scoff at.
Oh… and you can use it to restrain a subject. Really. Use it right, and those edges hurt like a motherf**ker. Tip: aim for those nice spaces between the bones in a hand, or the pressure point beneath someone’s jaw. Works. Very well.
ATN PVS7-3P Night Vision Goggle
… okay… so this is a little pricy. Just a nip. But we want it… this could be so much fun… just thing about it.
Anyway. Military grade goggles, built-in IR illuminator, only 1,5 pounds…
Sorry, had to wipe away a little bit of drool there.
Check it out here.
Hey! Merry Christmas ya’ll! And good luck tomorrow!
