How to transport illegal items in your carry-on;
Transporting illegal items through an airport is not easy these days, unless you have someone on the inside helping you out. That would in most cases be the best thing, even though it involves trusting someone with that kind of info about what you are going to do. We’ll concentrate on doing it on your own, for simplicity.

Your carry-on will pass through an x-ray scanner on your way through the security checkpoint. This is your obstacle. So how do we beat something that can see through fabric, plastic, rubber, whatever your luggage is made of? If something is placed inside the bag, like a metal plate, to block the image, that will trigger a manual check of your bag, almost certainly blowing your scheme wide open. X-ray operators have, on average, only five seconds to clear a bag when it passes through the scanner and pops onto his or her screen. This is something that we can take advantage of when trying to pass the checkpoint with something illegal in the bag or briefcase.
Getting something you shouldn’t have through security comes down to taking advantage of the operator’s limited time to clear your bag, and a little technical insight into how a bag scanner displays your bag on the screen.
We’ve been over the color scheme before, and below is a typical image generated by a leading brand x-ray scanner;
You’ll see that there’s three bottles of liquid there, likely at least one Coca-Cola, based on the shape of the bottle, there’s a camera or two, a lens, a few batteries, a stack of cd’s, zippers, glasses, and so on. Now, you don’t see the stack of cd’s? That’s because they’re edge up in the side pocket at the bottom of the image. It’s a greenish blur there.
This is the main point. If you manage to place an item in your bag so that the edge of say, a knife, is “up” when it goes through the scanner, then it will show up as only a line. If that stack of cd’s had been knife blades, there would only be a bunch of blue lines down there on the screen. That might (probably will) prompt a re-check, but usually, one will not.
Camouflage is another method. Making one thing look like another on the scanner screen is not really all that hard. You can, for example, take advantage of densities in the item. A log of marzipan, for instance, shows up looking exactly like dynamite. (So that’s a bad thing to bring.) But all metal will be blue, all dense plastics and some light metals will be green, while everything organic will show up orange.
Visualize how things will look on the screen when you pack your illegal item in the bag, and place it to create the least amount of visible signature on the screen – you have to make it be a stealth fighter.

Having said all this, you see that it comes down to mostly luck, and a little insight, to get something through airport security. It’s by no means very hard, but just a tiny little wrench in the works, thrown by a security officer actually paying attention, will land you in jail and big trouble. If you’re in the US, it might get you on the no-fly list, and that’s pretty bad.

Prepare small stacks of money and put it in an envelope and put it in the bottom of your bag. First place a newspaper on the bottom of ypur bag and put the stacks of money and than other newspaper.

Yikes. Well, “shielding” doesn’t work. Sticking your phone up…somewhere might work, but there are no guarantees, and it would be guaranteed to stick you in a small room with unfriendly people if you’re caught.
Also, cell phones are allowed on planes – why not just send it through the x-ray?

Well, the titanium is a no-brainer. Titanium will bond with human bone, so you simply pull a Wolverine and have a mad scientist inject it into your skeleton. It might sting a little, but worth it, right?
As a bonus, that leaves you with one less piece of luggage too! 100 kg should be just right for one skeleton. After that, you simply walk through the checkpoint. When the thingy howls, just tell’em you have a hip replacement or something.

As long as they’re plastic toys and not illegal in the country/district you’re going to (or from), sending them in your checked luggage is probably going to be fine. The automated x-ray machines will, most likely, not react to the “organic” profile image that your plastic bb-guns will create, and so your bags won’t be searched. If they are searched the guns will most likely be sent through, providing, as already said, they’re legal in the jurisdictions you’re traveling between.

Insurance, and put them in your checked luggage. Or your carry-on if you can. They’ll show up on the x-ray, of course, but that shouldn’t really pose a problem as long as it’s your gold…

No, that’s not possible. In order to block x-rays, you need to use lead, and that will probably raise some questions in itself.
That’s not true. There are multiple other substances that block xrays. Some sorts of tin (Sn), antimony (Sb), tungsten (W) bismuth (Bi), as well as a few others also block xrays. They sell xray broof mylar bags on Amazon, though I don’t personally know how well those ones work.

This is probably the most innocent “illegal” item ever but…I am returning home from a 3 month trip in Beijing, as a going a way gift I was given a vacuum sealed goldfish. It is alive and in over 2 oz of water but in a very secure plastic bubble. How can I bring this little guy home?!
Well… it’s not really the most innocent illegal item ever… Live animals/fish are not things you should bring with you at all. Chances are that you won’t get it through security, and even if you did, it may be sensitive to the pressure changes you will be experiencing on a flight, causing injury and/or death. To it, at least.
In addition to that, you might get into some serious customs trouble if you try to bring it across the border – live animals can carry diseases, and there’s a reason why it’s strictly regulated and enforced. Short answer? Don’t do it.

We we’ve discussed your predicament all night, and we really can’t come up with a better method than that – in fact, if you allow it, we’ll just refer others with similar troubles to you in the future, since we’ve clearly been bested when it comes to thinking around security. 😉
What about hollow can safes, are they safe in checked luggage or will the cavity and it’s contents be visible?
Anything of metal that is thick (or dense) enough will be solid blue/black on the screen, but remember that any large metal mass might prompt a search of your baggage.
i’m on vacation in amsterdam and i wonna bring a little weed with me back home can i just put it in my back pack in a sealed bottle and let it go trough the x ray machine ? i mean a small amount is harmless right

Do you know of security xray-ing people. The new xray scaners see through your clothing but do the xrays see into the body. What stops someone from putting something in a body cavity or swallowing something . I have heard of xray being used only if they think you are acting funny and then pull that person out of line for the xray. ture or false?
Hi. We’ve written quite a bit on the subject of body scanners – take a look around; you’re sure to find a few useful nuggets here and there.
Body scanners that use “x-ray” radiation can’t see into your body. They see past your clothes, but the desity of the skin is too much for the radiation to penetrate – i.e. the skin absorbs it. Remember that the x-rays in security scanners, both the body scanners and x-ray machines are generated by a high-viltage coil, NOT radioactive material. It makes for controllable, weak radiation – just enough to penetrate clothing or low-desity objects in your carry-on.
X-rays are harmful, however, and it looks like these machines (termed “active” body scanners as opposed to the passive scanners that only measure millimeter wave radiation FROM your body instead of exposing the body TO radiation) are headed for a ban, in the EU/EEC at least.
if someone were taking a mid-size electronic device, like a receiver, desktop or game console through the airport in their check-in bag, would that alone give tsa an intent to hand check or recheck the luggage? would you still be able to see organic matter or plastic if it was tucked inside one of these devices? do the xray machines covering the checkin luggage screen multiple angles of the baggage?

In short, it might.
It’s important to remember that checked-in luggage is subject to automatic scans, which are indeed done in multiple angles. Organic matter tucked inside an electronic device is almost certain to set off a manual check by a human, especially if the organic matter us dense enough. Remember that common explosives (dynamite/tri-nitro-tylol) usually show up with the same density reading as a regular block of white cheese.

I work on a oil rig in Brazil, I fly from Canada to Brazil two times a month. Just like in a airport my bag going through a x-ray mechine. when i am boarding the chopper. I am not soppose to take my IPhone on the rig, If they find it they will “hold on to it for me” till i come back, so i will never see it agian, Can i rap it in something ? put it in something? Hi Chris. Electronic devices are hard to conceal from an x-ray operator – they’re some of the easiest things to spot, in fact, and rightly so.
Your best chance would be to read through our tutorial on how to interpret an x-ray image, and experiment with where and how you place your ‘pod.

You know, most airlines will allow you to check in small items that aren’t allowed in the cabin for only a small fee, or even for free.
It’ll probably be cheaper than having to give it up at the checkpoint, anyway…
I’m trying to take some liquor on a cruise with the rumrunners (http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com). Being plastic, it shouldn’t bring up any major alarms, but they would need to be concealed in a way that wouldn’t be immediately apparent. I’ve been told by a source that “oven bags” seem to reflect xray technology and make it difficult to see the contents of the bag. Is this a complete urban myth, or is there validity?
The “oven bags” will actually make it harder to see (not much, but a little) what’s in your bags or suitcases, but there’s a major flaw in this plan evens so.
Regulations for both airport and ISPS security states that if the x-ray operator cannot determine what’s in the bag due to obstructions (such as large metal objects, one thing obscuring another, etc.) then the item must be opened and checked manually.
The key is to make the thing you’re trying to hide look like something else.
so im trying to import a small knife from pakistan to canada. im fliyin emirates from karachi to dubai and from dubai to toronto. so the knife is about 8cm when unfolded. it is a switch blade but it cant be automatically unfolded. im a permanant resident in canada if that helps. so i was wondering if i put the knife in my luggage will the canadian authorities find out about it? i can get it through karachi without any problems but can i get the knife in to canada without any problems?

I’m trying to bring with me 2 ceramic ballistic plates its size is 10×12 and thickness is almost a half a inch. (check in of course)
What color will it show up on x-ray for the plates? blue or green? will it been transparent and be able to be see thru on x-ray or will it be a dark mass on x-ray?
Is it hard to make it look like something different on x-ray?
If instead I mail the plates will I face the same problems?

Based on the thickness, these plates will be a mix of blue and green, but they will be very dark. However, transporting such plates shouldn’t be a problem.
If you can, try to fit these plates as “end walls” in your bag or suitcase – that way, they won’t obscure the x-rays coming in through the longer sides/bottom/top of your bag or suitcase.
Alternatively, make one plate the end wall and the other a side wall, leaving 3 sides (and one end) open to the x-ray machines.
Since such things aren’t a problem in themselves, the only thing that can cause an issue is if the rest of the bag’s content can’t be viewed.

Yes, everything you can eat will show up as organic matter. It’s generally not a good idea to eat things that aren’t organic…
Paper and books will also show up as organic, at least so far as they are made of regular paper, i.e. made from trees or similar. Some types of paper which consists mostly of plastic might show up as something else, a light green perhaps, but that would be a very rare occurrence.

When traveling without checked luggage, I’d like to conceal my small Swiss Army Knife in my carry-on luggage so I have a useful tool at my destination (without going shopping all the time). I was thinking about hiding it inside a MagLite (aluminum) or cheap (thin steel walled) flashlight in place of one of the batteries. How will either of these solutions look on X-Ray? Obviously the flashlight wouldn’t function. Any other ideas? For day trips I hate waiting around for even the small parcel envelope to get delivered. I’ve also lost a nice pocket knife when someone else picked up the wrong envelope.
I’m going in less than a week so it’s really urgent please help 🙂 I need to take a small blade, the same kind of blades that are in leg razors, at least one. I wouldn’t want to risk carrying it on my person unless you think I could get away with it? Like I said it’s very small. Would it work if I stuck it between to house keys? The short answer is that any changes in density will be discernible.
Quick question out of curiosity….if you emptied a bag of like coffee or any other recognizeable bag that would regularly contain organic matter and filled it with cocaine and neatly sealed it back up would that be able to be recognized??? Is there a special indication that alerts them to cocaine in a package? thanks.

Security x-ray machines generate their x-rays from below and to one side, sending them in a fan shape up to the opposite upper corner, so to speak.
So… would, say, weed look the same a tobacco? I have a machine that rolls joints into filtered cigarette paper.. Can i just swap a few regular cigarettes for the “special” ones with out being found out? I am a legal medical user, but am traveling and prefer to be discreet, as tsa isn’t always open to the idea, licensed or not…

Ah… Steve. There’s no real way to conceal cell phones in your luggage. Your best bet is just to carry them, and hope you don’t get stopped by customs… but carrying cell phones into Armenia isn’t prohibited. If they ask you about them, why not just say they’re your, and you brought them along as backups on your trip?

Look, it’s not security’s job to tell you to get rid of tobacco. That’s not what they’re there for. The people you have to worry about is customs officers, and they have all kinds of stuff to detect if you’re smuggling something. Not the least of which is about 30x more training than security…
Also, as long as they don’t have a metal container, why not just put’em in your jacket pocket?

hi. i was just wondering what the procedures were at the point that the contents of a check-in bag are considered ‘suspicious’ to the scanning individual, even if it’s organic? for example, do they check inside every block of cheese, jar of food, bag of candy, etc?
Hi Claire.
If a checked-in bag triggers an alert from the automatic scanning equipment, the image will be checked by a human operator. If the operator feels the need to search the bag, that will be done (in the EU, mostly with the owner present, in the US, not so much).
When it comes to individual blocks of cheese, for example, it’s very easy for the operator to see if there’s something inside it, since the density will change, the outlines of changes will be visible, etc. So no, stuffing something inside a block of cheese or switching a few M&M’s for something different won’t normally work at all.

Maybe… it’s your best bet anyways. However, many x-ray operators will recognize weapons parts as well as an assembled gun, so it’s a gamble either way.

If drugs/explosives are dissolved in liquid (water, softdrink etc), would that be easily diffrentitated from just having water or softdrink since both are organic? I assume the density of the liquids are similar.

I might travel to china to buy and bring some retail stuff but they just ask for cash… I was thinking about bringing with me £20000 in notes to buy stuff and send that back. Cash is pretty easy to see – especially since most bills now have metal strips in them, which will show up on screen.
Taking currency out of the country isn’t illegal and there’re usually no fees, so your best bet is just to fill out that customs form. you don’t want to send that much cash through checked baggage…

Hi. I think we actually have quite a few comments about hiding cash, but it’s risky none the less. Like I said, the best thing is to declare it, and that way you can travel with it in a much safer way – e.g. securing it on your person or in your carry-on.

Take a look at our page on “How to read” one of those x-ray images. You’ll find examples and a more in depth explanation of the system there. In short, yes, it’ll be orange. Can you tell it’s a box of cigarettes? Easily.

Depending on the thickness of the metal, it’s very possible to see through it. For normal soup cans or deodorant sprays, the metal is very thin, and in most cases it’s not hard to see what’s in them, how much is left, of there’s anything…foreign… in them, etc. Take a look at this page on how to read an airport sec. x-ray. The first example image should pretty much tell you what the deal is.

And as long as you fill the metal container totaly with the same ‘organic material’ there’s nothing fishy to see on the screen, i would think?

That depends. Remember that it’s not just about colors – the x-ray machines are designed to illustrate outlines very accurately. So, if you put a bag of x in the soup can, the operator will see it. If the pills have indented logos, the operator will see that, too.
A baggie of weed? May be possible, if the density is the same as the soup or whatever, and if it’s chunky vegetable soup, for example. There are a lot of factors to consider.
I was curious if hollowing out a jar peanut butter, while making sure there is still a thick amount of peanut butter on the bottom and sides, stashing it with the “goods” putting more peanut butter on top, and resealing the container would work to pass through the scanner. Also, if i do this and put it in a box with a bunch of other foods in my checked baggage, would it raise question going outside the U.S.?
On several occasions I’ve transported live birds hidden in my hand luggage, they have passed through the airport x-ray scanner and they have not been detected. I think it is since they are security agents looking more metallic objects and not realize the original organic (orange color) but know if not searching for metals and put the scanner in the form of organic could see birds?.Also there are other forms of scanner in black and white I think that it looks better but by that both are not used?.

X-Ray scanners can see both metal, organic and composites, all day every day. It’s up to the operator to change or combine different views – that includes b&w or color settings, levels and contrast. The problem in spotting birds is that their outline can be hard to distinguish, they may be moving around (if they’re alive), and they’ve got hollow bones, so their skeleton won’t show up as well as in landbound creatures. That said, one of these days, someone will definitely see one of them, and your animal abusing ass will be in jail, where it will hopefully be raped repeatedly.

Will Diamonds and precious stones be visible to airport X ray machines.
Hi Joe. Yes, and we’ve written a bit about that before. Diamonds and other gemstones/precious stones are so dense (remember that diamonds can, for example, cut glass) that they will show up as black. That’s also a good way for an operator to identify them. However, since they’re usually very small, it’s easy to miss them for an inexperienced one.

Usually, you can get away with transporting oil filters as long as they’re dry – i.e. new and unused, and not primed or containing oil at all.
Hi, great Site!! I was wondering about gold transportation. From what I understood its all about the density and how the x-rays are bouncing of the material density and showing on detector as adequate color.

Thanks for your comment. Nick’s images are interesting, but not necessarily very representative when it comes to security x-ray images. Making gold look like something else, however, is a good idea, though not a new one. Making it look like batteries is a good choice if you’re insistent on disguising it – but remember that there’s always the risk of manual searches.
That said, transporting gold isn’t illegal, and taking gold through customs is usually only a matter of declaring it.

Hi Arco… unless that’s a weird euphemism we haven’t heard before, they probably shake your bottle to see if the liquid does anything weird, or if there’s anything in there that shouldn’t be there.
Alcohol is a great way of transporting certain substances, but mixing anything in there would make the liquid behave a little differently. They’re hoping to detect that with the naked eye, I guess.

Hey Kasimir. You’re basically right, but the hardness and thickness varies, so it’s a little hard to say. It will be a composite kind of thing, so some blend of orange and green will be the result.

There’s really no way to “hide” gold from the x-ray operator. The only thing you can do is disguise it as something else, which is risky, since it’s very hard to know if the object will show up as it should.

Well, James… it’s all there, really. Gold and diamonds are very dense materials, which will be seen as black. There’s no other way to hide that from an x-ray operator than either making it look like something else, or hide it behind something equally dense.

My only question is I will be visiting him so planning on taking that in check in baggage not by hand, my only question is will the frame trigger an alert or is there anything good to disguise along with it such as make it look a hand tool that uses a pistol grip etc?

Anything looking like a gun, even a tool w/pistol grip, might make the ABS system react. However, there’s usually no restrictions on sending legal weapons parts (especially non-lethal) in checked baggage. Assembled weapons require that you contact the airline first, but that’s not the case here. If you’re really worried, check with the airline. They’ll probably just tell you to stuff the thing in your checked baggage.

Aside from that, we’ll just have to refer you to the earlier comments – we’ve talked a bit about gemstones and diamonds before. Also, precious metals. Uncut/rough diamonds will show up just like cut ones (except the shape, of course), but we kinda doubt there will be any security officers out there (generally speaking) who will a) recognize rough diamonds or b) think they’re any kind of a threat to security.
Mind you… that doesn’t cover any customs agents you might encounter…

Look, customs officers are scary people. That’s why they get the job. In most cases, they’ve got more experience than the security people, they’re better paid and they’re far more fanatical. So here’s the deal.
You can’t really disguise it from them. It’s going to show up on screen if they x-ray it. Your best bet is to take it apart as much as you can, buy batteries when you get there, take the motor out and put it in with your toiletries, and then tuck the mostly “organic” rest of it in with something of the same densities. They don’t normally show up very prominently (depending on the type, of course), so making it look like a food or snack item is possible.
We’d have to have more specific info to help you any further than that.

Unfortunately 3D x rays are becoming the norm. 3D x rays are taken from two angles, 45 degrees apart. This means that anything stacked so it looks inconspicuous in one angle will probably look very suspicious from the other angle. So try to keep that in mind.
One of our customers at security told us that he had been on this site, we just re scanned the pack and oops, gun upper parts, bullets… weed… so funny he butted the weed on juice can… we opened it and woops. Dont belive these thinks on this site, you just get yourself screwed.

The item may have wood or even bone inserts on the handle, but the blade is obviously metal, and some parts on the knife handle is also metal.

Mail is primarily checked by x-ray and particle sniffers. Make the knife “invisible” by placing it with dense metals – mind you, that alone might warrant a re-check (manual check) of the parcel, so no guarantees.

I work as an xray scanner in an airport and all that is written here is total bollocks.
We have dual screens so putting a knife facing UP makes no difference cos we get 2 views from side and above. Trust me you wont get through with illegal items period
Jerry – dual screens are an exception. not a rule, as you would know if you’ve ever moved outside your own work station. Most scurity checkpoints, airport and other, rely on single emission and image rendering, which means you get a 45 degree angle on the x-rays. This, again, means that the system relies on operators that are well trained, who will spot suspicious items and request a second scan. Minimizing the profile of a knife, for example, will in most cases minimize the chance of it being spotted.
Now, the sort of complacency that you exhibit is one of the major security risks – you should never, ever assume that illegal items won’t get through – illegal items get through checkpoints both in and out of airports every day. Judging by your attitude to it, I’d say illegal items would be pretty easy to get through yours.

Im taking a cruise and would like to bring a clean/unused glass water pipe for my hookah, now I know that this isn’t actually illegal in any way as smoking is allowed on the ship, however I don’t want to be hassled in any way on my vacation. It’s about 4 inches tall and 3 wide and completely clear glass, no metal or plastic, but looks like a mini bong. Is there something I could wrap it in that would just hide the distinguishing characteristics of what it looks like?
Glass makes for a pretty obvious shadow on an x-ray machine, so there’s no real way of hiding it, depending on the shape and size. You can obscure it with metal, of course, but as the article(s) also say, that might trigger a search on its own.

Why, just why would you need to hide it? It is a cell phone. Just take it with you. I don’t understand. It is a stupid question. Unless your intentions are not on the up and up and are illegal then just take the God damned cell phone with you and let them see the thing.
I make six international trips a year, each with multiple flights. Do not try taking something illegal through the airport and certainly not into a foreign country. The scanners are very good. Dogs walk among you in line trained to sniff everything from drugs to explosives to produce. I’ve walked past people having knives pulled from their bags, knives pulled from belt buckles, etc. They know ALL the tricks. Many countries are crazy about the slightest amount of drugs. The penalties are harsh.
I once had a plastic toy gun – a sales sample – in my checked bag. I was called on the airport intercom and escorted out onto the tarmac. There in a bus with blacked out windows with bars two people went through my bag as two police with bullet proof vests and automatic weapons watched me wait. They examined the toy gun. Checked EVERYTHING in the bag and finally let me go. If I’d tried to smuggle something they would have taken me to jail right then.

And I travel internationally more frequently than I’d like. The security may be good, but they don’t have the time or resources to disassemble every small blue-black thing they see. Especially since a two week trip can be supported by a 1/2″ cubic space of quality goodies. Although going to Iran, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia were freaky the first times, now, when I absolutely am forced to go there (and that’s what it takes), I no longer sweat it. My upcoming trip in about 2 months is to another wing-nut country, Egypt. But MUCH better than the other 3. I’d never suggest to anyone to visit any of these places. Because, if it’s not your homeland, it just sucks being there.
China, France,Belgium and especially the Netherlands, were great! Really could go forever without ever seeing the middle east again, ever! Hate it there beyond words. Guess I got off track, but hopefully it’s useful to someone.

Just simply think customs are only just humans not Gods. There are ways to do it but not to be publicly said though in forums. Start by thinking what I just said above and the ways will come pouring down your brain. It’s much more simple than u think.

I moving to Perth WA from Brisbane Qld Australia. I have two beautiful jungle pythons and I love them to bits and I really would like to take them with me on the plane. Only thing is WA won’t approve any reptiles from other states. So I was thinking about taking them on board with me. I have read through most comments and I have noticed that it’s not a very good topic. But I want to transport them the best way I can as they’re very loved pets. They’re not very big snakes and I thought it would be best to have them hidden under my clothes and then placed in a snap container once secure on board . Still unsure please help!
The problem is the damned baggage scanner. Anything that even appears to move will be game over. As I see it, the only way is too put them into a relatively opaque object shaped like such an innocuously shaped gift form that it doesn’t bear further scrutiny. It has to be a durable and no scanner expects a box of chocolates to be opaque. Maybe an ornate piggy bank, a musical instrument or other such item. There is no guarantee though. Scanners may just want to know what those items may be concealing since they are big enough to hold a buttload of drugs or weapons. Smuggling sizable living things is very, very hard. If they only had to be confined for very short times before you could go to the bathroom and make more comfortable in a purse-sized container, well, I’ve carried Altoid containers through without having them inspected. Perhaps a similar set of larger metal boxes containing a similarly well -known product label (particularly if sold by one of the airport stores) and carefully concealed breathing holes may work. There are no guarantees here, good luck Becca. Another thought, browse the gift shop for easily recognizable, and thus assumed to be safe, gifts that are x-ray opaque and could be adapted to work. This is a lot of trouble but we smugglers do what we’ve got to do.
Get them registered as emotional support animals. Then you are legally allowed to fly with them.

If it’s an “arms above your head, don’t move” scanner, the only conceivable way would be to incorporate it into your clothing construction such that it looks like it belongs. A tall order for too little pay off. Those damned things see everything. They saw a single Kleenex tissue (unused, or it would even have been more visible) in my jeans pocket. Asked me what it was…Christ, those machines are nosey. Good luck!

But, if you just mean the carry-on scanner, it’s trivial. All you need is a reasonably sturdy metal tube. Well what kind of tube works? Try an old laser pointer. They’ll NEVER look inside. Or, take the opposite strategy, It’s organic – orange. Pack it the center of a bunch of innocent “orange things”, licorice, Slim-Jims, or similar, put it in a baggie, roll it up and put a pedestrian closure on it. A twist-tie or rubber band. Funny story, when I first started my “I’ll carry whatever I damned well please for personal entertainment” thing, I was naive. I wrapped joints in foil and slid them inside the ram compartment. Did it 3 or 4 times before I was educated to the fact that computers are the most scrutinized item. Nobody ever said a word, imagine that! I also carried a single-edged razor blade in my wallet a dozen times before s scanner in Ronald Raygunz airport mentioned it. Kinda’ surprising. On the very rare flights where I carry no drugs, its a good time to experiment with techniques. They almost all work, actually all worked except the blatant blade. A close friend is becoming a TSA agent and that person has already happily agreed to share all the “priorities”, new equipment and other things of general interest.
Just a note to TSA agents readings this…some of you guys are so thoughtful, it still looks like I packed it when I open it. Some of you are freaking pigs. Straighten the hell up when you’re done, alright? You’re jobs aren’t that damned rushed that you can’t be professional.
If you are a mechanically inclined person, the possibilities are endless. The x-ray expects a core of a wall-wart to be opaque. Carefully open the plastic case (no marks!), drill 1/4 inch holes into the metal core of the transformer, drop in your hash, acid, what-have-you…add a slight layer of aluminum foil. Top off with steel filled epoxy. Glue a plate of metal over the tops of the holes. Use cyanoacrylate to close the case back up. Bring big, strong nail clippers and similar tools to open upon arrival. A lot of trouble? Sure? Foolproof? Well, I brought speed and hash into China. I bring my personal drugs anywhere, even into those cruddy backwater countries that kill you. Smiled all the way, nobody will find it. Any “agents” want to dispute me? I thought not. It is not feasible to catch guys like me. There are any number of ways to defeat ALL existing airport security for small amounts of drugs. You just need meticulous skills and ingenuity. Hell, if you’re lazy, just open a metal bodied thumb drive. Remove the crap and add drugs wrapped in aluminum foil coated with epoxy. Reseal. Just throw it into your carry on. Remember, expected metal items, ones not expected to launch any alarm, can always conceal the “lighter color” items inside them. Seals must be hermetic. Epoxy is your friend.

It’s probably much more usual than we’ll ever know. Metallic items will often be picked up in metal detectors, even inside the body (artificial hips, splints, shoulders, etc.), but organic matter such as drugs are less likely to be detected in that… environment. That said, drug sniffers and dogs might still tag you, and cause a secondary check and/or cavity search if the resources/time/severity is present. That is pretty extreme, however, and would require transport to a medical facility, etc, as well as very solid legal grounds. It’s not something you’d encounter on a normal day.

Yow i travel like 10 times per year, always with pills, i always take with me bucnh of oxycontins xanax percos vicodin, etc. my method is simple, never give a fuck, first of all be relaxed, those tsa robots smell fear and anxiousness, be calm all time pop some xanax at the terminal, my regular dose for travel its 3 2 mg xanax and 2 percocets with a little bit of alcohol , since i go from miami to argentina most of the time, i take 3 planes which involves several airports, ok so place the pills on a bottle of vitamins, tynelol, or something non narcotic, put em between your clothes on a ziploc along with items such as toothbrush, and bathroom stuff, take some with you too, i always take em as tic tacs, i used to fear the x rays but they never told me anything and like i said i was high as fuck all the time so i just put a big i dont give a shit vibe

Transporting illegal items through an airport checkpoint is not an easy feat, which you’d see if you actually read the article(s) here. At best, it’s a hit and miss kind of thing – you can trick people, and when it comes to the TSA, it’s probably not very hard. Trying it with agencies in Europe or the middle east is a whole other deal.

What I did once was ((kind of time consuming but the safest thing I could think of)) grind my weed up, neatly open a bunch of lil teabag packets (where the actual tea bag comes in), then gently cut open the soft paper that contains the tea herbs, dump the herbs out, fill it back up with weed, put your new weed-filled teabag back in the packet it came in, tape (with clear tape) or glue the packet back together and repeat this till all your herb is now disguised as, well, herbs 🙂 put the packets in whatever box the tea packets came in or just a zip lock, and you’re good to go. An ounce is a LOT more weed than I’ve ever brought but I think you’ll be good. Good luck!

Well I just had about a gram so it couldn’t smell nearly as much as an ounce would, but anyway, I made sure to like triple bag it and shove it in the very center of my suitcase so the weed would be completely enclosed in all these layers of clothes and things from every side. I went really extra with it, as should you. ESPECIALLY if you’re traveling with a lot more weed.
Sounds like a bad idea because airports have sniffer dogs and if you get caught, depending on the local laws, you will get jailtime for drug trafficking.

You fail to show the other view so yeah those cd’s would most certainly be shown as cd’s lol. As do knives. Youre also wrong about the color of plastics. As well about the 5 seconds. As you bag may be stopped on the belt at any given time for as long as is needed to clear it. Or it can be rerun at also bouts different orientation like those cds. Even if they did just show as those lines, any competent xray operator would rerun the bag. Knives are simple to detect. This article is complete fail.
