Stealth Wear

You know… for hiding from those pesky drones. They do tend to show up at the most unexpected and inopportune times. At least that’s our experience with them, but that could be just us, of course.

To be fair, there are quite a few drones hovering overhead these days, at least if your either in the US or in some other war-torn country. Law enforcement agencies all over the US are testing them, or applying for licenses to use (and abuse) them, along with the military, universities and colleges, and so on. In fact, a leaked DoJ “white paper” that created quite a fuss a couple of weeks ago says that the US government can use drones to kill any US citizen who’s affiliated with terrorist organizations on a “high level”.

Being able to hide from them doesn’t seem like such a bad idea now, does it? Luckily, some smart people already have solutions for you.

Okay, so here’s the deal. Drones use infrared signatures to detect people, vehicles, animals, and whatnot. That basically means that the can see the heat you’re radiating, and can target that. The technology is nothing new, but the ability to use it on unmanned drones is, and this is where things get scary. If the drone can see your heat, and sees it as a human, it can target you. Now, we can’t do anything about you radiating heat, but we can mask the heat, dampen it and/or make it look like something else. And this is where Adam Harvey’s Stealth Wear comes into play.

Inspired by certain Middle Eastern women’s wear, the Stealth Wear aims to cover up as much of your IR signature as possible, and it seems to work. We haven’t tested it – yet – but we’re a little bit giddy about the possibilities in this.

Masking your heat signature has a couple of pros; anyone trying to see you using heat seeking equipment will have a hard discerning that they’re actually looking at a human. Like x-ray imaging at airports, it takes time and skill to accurately interpret what you’re seeing in an IR image, and messing with the outline and shape of an object will confuse and distract an operator.

Reducing your heat signature can make you look like nothing but a small animal, a residual heat signature (like you’ve been there recently, but have moved) and so on. This is a good thing.

Take a look at the Stealth Wear – we think it’s going to be all the rage. Oh, and the Stealth Wear also works for hiding from police choppers at night. Not that we’d recommend that course of action, but you know. It’s nice to be prepared.
